Yamaha set up the motorcycle manufacturing division of the company in 1952. The first bike Yamaha manufactured was a 125 cc, 3-speed Jingle model that had the engine and gears integrated into a 1965 model called Kuribone 25.

The company has worldwide presence with 250 joint manufacturing plants with collaborations and ventures in nearly 65 countries. On top of that, Yamaha also started international motorcycle racing exhibitions for exhibition/stationary on ground and closed circuit motorcycles since 1957.
