Tim Hortons is a multinational fast food restaurant chain with branches in Canada and the United States. It was founded in 1964 by Canadian hockey player Tim Horton and Jim Charade, after an initial venture in hamburger restaurants.
The company is known for its coffee and doughnuts, as well as other breakfast items. As of December 31, 2016, Tim Hortons had 4,623 restaurants in ten countries worldwide: 3,630 in Canada; 866 in the United States; and 29 in the Middle East.
Tim Hortons has been publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange since 1995. In October 2006, Tim Hortons merged with Burger King Worldwide Inc., forming a new company under the name Restaurant Brands International Inc.
