In order to clear the clutter of other people’s photos, users can categorize their uploaded content into different boards. These boards can be either public or private.</p><p>Pinterest is often categorized as a social curation site because the work is based on curating interesting web content for others to view on a visually-pleasing pinboard or profile page that other users see.</p><p>The idea of "pinning" an image from the web dates back to college students' notes at Ivy League schools over ten years ago, enshrined on dorm room doorways with magnetic Tiles (a type of low-powered magnet).</p>
