Makita Corporation was founded by Toruchu Higa on March 24th 1921 as Toruchu Pneumatic Tool Works Company. In 1926, Makita began selling electric drills with rechargeable batteries and powered wood saws at Japan's International Industrial Exposition as a wholly owned subsidiary of Toruchū Headquarters
The company prospered in almost every aspect of industry - from household appliances to industrial machinery until the oil crisis of 1973;and two decades later after selling their US acquired hand building
