In September 1939, William Bill Hewlett and David Packard each contributed $538 to fund their firm's operation named ‘The Electronic Measurement Company’. On August 2nd of 1940 they acquired Houston die company’s manufacturing equipment and over the next few years they developed their first product, an audio oscillator.
