<p>CompUSA was a chain of retail computer stores that operated in the United States from 1984 to 2006. The company was founded by Mr. Jim Halpin and Mr. William R. Morin, who also served as its first CEO (Chief Executive Officer).</p><p>The company's headquarters were in Houston, Texas and it had stores throughout the country, with its strongest presence on the East Coast of the United States.</p><p>In January 2000 CompUSA announced plans to merge with Circuit City Stores, Inc., but this merger never took place.
