The 3M Company was founded by Wallace R. McKamey in 1902 as the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, which grew from a small patch of plants to 131 manufacturing sites around the world in history. As of 2013 it became an American multinational conglomerate corporation operating in the fields of industry, worker safety, U.S military equipment and petroleum-based products. The 3M Company is one of the few publicly traded companies unaffected by the Dot-com bubble downturn or recent recession.
