Tiktok is a mobile application. It is popular with teenagers, who use this platform to share videos with others about themselves or about pop culture tie-ins, like the latest music videos or the Walking Dead series.
The app was founded by Alex Zhu and Bobby Calder in 2011. At that time, they called their social platform ‘Veztek’ but they decided it would be better to make it sound more like its competitor Vine because of their initial success. Then they rebranded as TikTok—taking a play on words and popping three popular fads of early 2011: Twitter, texting, and Tic Tac (the name may have been inspired by the song "Timber" by Karena Twain).
