Tesla was started to enable mass-market electric cars, a labor of love by Elon Musk.
Elon Musk is a CEO and the largest stakeholder of Tesla Inc., an American automobile manufacturing company founded in 2003 in Silicon Valley. He liked cars when he was 13 years old and came up with the idea for Tesla when his girlfriend's car did not work with his laptop.
The first concept vehicle revealed by Tesla, a convertible two-seat sports car designed by Franz von Holzhausen was unveiled on Basil on June 30, 2006. The initial release date for this model was planned to be the first day of production at its new factory in San Jose which opened in 2011 with total capacity expected to reach 500,000 units annually after moving into its final stages.
