International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is an international Math Olympiad competition in which participants aged between 15 and 18 work to prove their skill in mathematics with elimination rounds held across the world. International Mathematical Olympiad is abbreviated as IMO. The competition is typically divided into three rounds: a preliminary, elimination and achievement. The preliminary round is held simultaneously in all participating countries, with each participant's score combining to produce an overall country ranking. The elimination round follows the same format but with only a few participants competing at any given time. After each elimination round, the top ten performers ( or the top five in some cases) then progress to the achievement round, which is only held in one country. The achievement round is a test of each participant's knowledge and problem solving skills, with a maximum of ten participants.
