Goodyear introduced the Four-S cross-ply tire in the market in 1948, and this was soon followed with five additional developments. A decade later, the company had introduced Sipex fabric made with 80% recycled rubber, a compressor capable of replacing 200 tires per minute, and formed its first firestone board.

The size of Goodyear changes depending on the area it is available in. Sometimes it is marketed as both a big or general tyre in North America while being branded as small domestic tires in Europe.
