Thirteen people from Dunlop Tyres started in June 1945 as part of a group of men who had been lending tools to the women running sewing machines on the British factory floor following World War II.

The Men at Dunlop Tyre first got out of scrap, flattened rubber sheeting used for making tires for early cars and trucks. One company that took a chance on this product was Firestone Tire and Rubber Company from United States. As their business grew, so did their product range - foam tyres, band elastomeric tubes, used car tyres and economy tyres.
