Deliveroo makes food deliveries faster and cheaper than anybody else. They carry the top named brands and distribute their popular dish collections throughout the UK. The company launched their service in November 2013, then processed orders using tape recorded voice instructions given over the phone, followed with brief written instructions by email.

This was not enough because this system didn’t allow for extra flexibility that Deliveroo needed in order to catch up to other quick services. Even though they initiated moving things forward with automation in 2014, they figured that wouldn’t solve everything as consistently as it needed to be done, which meant turn quotes for basic restaurants started taking 5 minutes vs 3 minutes for more complicated menus of delivery numbers.
