Cartoon Network is an American cable and satellite television channel.
Cartoon Network's creation dates back to 1969, when Warner Communications decided that the time was right for a cable television network they could specifically offer to televise cartoons.
Although it shares central channels with TruTV, Cartoon Network is classified as a "kids' channel". These cartoons tend to have kid-friendly topics such as family friendly sports, educational children's programming and Disney programming.
The name “cartoon network” derives from the rationale that though animation is prohibited in its live-action programs, music videos, news programs and variety shows it can show animated cartoon graphics pictures behind announcer graphics for program promotions as well as in between some of its live action cinema trailers for movies (even one featuring famous English actor Sir Patrick Stewart.
