Bridgestone is a multinational tire and rubber company, which was founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in the city of Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It started as a maker of bicycle tires and then grew into other brands.
In 1960s Bridgestone began to expand its business internationally as well. The first Bridgestone production plant outside Japan was set up in Singapore in 1965.
The Bridgestone Group currently has 10 production plants around the world and employs over 69,000 people. Now it owns subsidiary companies such as Firestone North America (US), Inc; Bridgestone Europe SRL (Italy), Limited; Bridgestone Americas Holding LLC (US); Firestone Canada Ltd.; Yokohama Rubber Company Ltd., and more than 120 other companies around the world that soundly offer world-class products to their customers all over the globe.
